Available in twelve different styles, the Skip Hop Duo Deluxe is Skip Hops best selling diaper bag. It’s also one of its most versatile. Designed for both men and women, it offers a decent amount of space in a deceptively small package.
The interior consists of one big compartment, two easy access zip pockets and two smaller organizer pockets. The primary compartment is big enough to comfortable hold up to seven diapers and the zip pockets are neatly attached to the very top.
Another nice touch is the magnetic closures along the top. They not only make opening and closing the bag as easy as possible, they make it a silent process. And if you don’t know why this is great, you obviously haven’t had your baby yet.
My favorite thing about the Skip Hop Duo Deluxe however would have to be its external pockets. It has a total of four, with two at the side, and two at the front. The two at the side aren’t anything special but the two at the front are absolutely huge.
They’re perfect for storing your most used items, and as a result, the Duo Deluxe isn’t the kind of diaper bag that you’re going to have to keep opening every minute. This is obviously ideal when your hands are full.
Another thing that I like about the Duo is that its very compact. Despite offering bucket loads of space, it doesn’t look very big. And as a result, it’s perfect for days when you want to travel light. You’re not going to look like you’re carrying a huge empty bag around.
The Duos messenger strap feels equally well designed. It’s easily adjustable and it’s long enough to be worn either over your shoulder or over your chest. The strap also has some padding which can be removed if you’d prefer.
If you don’t feel like carrying the Duo, it also comes complete with two well designed stroller straps. Like all Skip Hop bags, the Duo fits snugly against the stroller keeping it within easy reach at all times.
The Duo also comes complete with a changing pad. While there’s nothing necessarily wrong with it, I was disappointed to see that it isn’t the same changing pad that’s included in the Studio bags and it appears to be of lower quality. It’s not a big complaint, but it is a complaint all the same.
Made primarily from polyester, the Duo is both easy to clean and eco friendly. It feels like a very durable bag and this is something that’s been echoed in multiple customer reviews. For the price, you’re definitely going to get a lot of wear out of it.
It’s worth noting that while the Duo is designed as a unisex bag, some of the colors have clearly been designed for women. So if you’re after something your partner can wear, it’s important to choose appropriately.
Overall, the Skip Hop Duo is a well constructed, well designed alternative to the ever popular, Skip Hop Studio. At 58 dollars, it’s excellent value. And if you’re looking for something that your babies father can wear too, it may well be the perfect purchase.
